Homer Alaska Chamber Of Commerce Grand Opening
Traveler Information Kiosk at BayCrest Overview Park
When you drive into Homer the first Scenic Stop is at the top of the Hill Overlooking Homer and the Famous Homer Spit. Pretty much every person who drives into Homer will stop at the BayCrest Overview to gaze out on this stunning view. It really is just gorgeous. Ocean, Bay, Mountains, Glaciers fill your eyes with the beauty we call the Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea.
So When NAR put out a Placemaking Grant for REALTORS to use in their community, it wasn’t hard to put the $2500.00 grant to good work and team up with Homer Chamber of Commerce to build this Traveler Information Kiosk to greet the many travelers from far and wide who stop here to enjoy and marvel in this beautiful place.
The Homer Chamber of Commerce had the Grand Opening Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Several people gathered as the Board of directors had a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, Adrienne Sweeny did the Honors while Bob Letson, chamber president, Tom Soderholm, Gina Pelaia, Patrick Mede, Amanda Miotke, Tom Stroozas past chamber president, Homer Mayor Bryan Zak, Director Karen Zak and Member Services Manager Emily Berg all helped!
The Homer Chamber will maintain The kiosk and it will be open during daylight hours in the winter and then for extended hours in the summer. They will stock it with information about Homer businesses and recreational opportunities.
Congratulations to The Kachemak Board of Realtors with Much Thanks to Gina Pelaia who helped make this happen by Obtaining the $2500.00 Placemaking Grant From
National Association of Realtors!
What a Beautiful Place to have this Functional Kiosk to greet the many Travelers
Who stop to see this Gorgeous Overview of our Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea!

Those pictures you posted are simply breathtaking, Debra. I am one who doesn't like cold, snow, ice. But your pictures could certainly seduce me into visiting to see those scenes first-hand. And congratulations on the new kiosk... it's adorable and I'm sure a welcome addition to the community.
I've been to Alaska once and it was so stunning to see the mountains and the beauty of Alaska. Looking forward to another trip soon.
This kiosk is sure to be a 'Must Stop' for all the visitors to the area and it is truly money well-spent! More communities should follow suit!
