I was out on the Homer Spit a couple of days ago… there were Eagles perched all over… on top of lights, buildings rocks… just lots of Eagles…
I was thinking about Jean Keene aka the Eagle Lady…
then it hit me it was January 13th. The day she died.
Jean Keene was one of a kind. Her bright red hair and her passion for the Eagles were real trademarks of her very being. She fed them. she named them, she loved them and they loved her. Jean didn’t want for much. She lived in her trailer at the End of the Spit year round. Surrounded by her Beautiful garden and her Eagles, she was Happy with her Life.
I think the Eagles were out that day… singing to the skies… singing to the Eagle Lady.
We still miss her! Jean Keene “The Eagle Lady” passed away January 13 2009 She was 85.
Here are a couple of posts I wrote before about Jean. She was a trick rider in the Red River Rodeo at a younger age and worked with Gene Audry...She had red hair and a quirky personality and was well known as one of Homer Alaska's Most Famous Characters
