Last week the air was crisp, sun was shining and the temperature was really low... like 5 degrees and less...

I was driving down Pioneer Avenue almost to work when I noticed a moose happily munching on a bush....

I pulled into the Art Shop Gallery to watch the moose make her way across the street...

Nice looking moose! I hear they can be pretty mean...

Hi Debra,

Great photos for Moose Monday. Do you see them often in Homer?

That is cool! It's funny how accustomed we can become for the nature we see every day and take it for granted - we don't have moose in Jacksonville Beach, FL, so this is unique to me!

I'm laughing out loud.

I feel like I'm watching an episode of Northern Exposure, one of my all time favorite TV shows.

Hi Debra - So Funny!  Love the photos... here in Syracuse New York our temperature this morning is -negative 10 degrees (that is NOT the wind chill factor)... we do not have Moose in our neck of the woods, but white tail deer whom I am quite sure have agreed that it is too cold even for them to venture out.  Alaska looks beautiful, but I'm dreaming of sandy beaches and sunshine right about now.  Keep sharing!

I imagine that life in Homer, Alaska means coexisting with these beautiful creatures.  Great photos!

Debra, every once in a while we hear about a wild animal coming into the city. Are they a problem around people? Nice Photos!

Debra, I'm sooooo jealous. I just love your mooses (moosi); all I can find down here is statues and pictures for Moose Monday. Wonderful pictures.

Debra,

A while back, hubby & I went camping with the specific goal of spotting a moose. They all hid from us - or wandered up to Homer to walk down Pioneer Avenue!  I'm very jealous...

Yikes.  Drive safe I would hate to have to bounce off one of those.  They would walk away and your car would be totaled.

The closest thing to that here in Edmond, OK is once a year a local man rides horseback through the McDonald's drive thru.  Not sure how I'd react to a moose taking a morning stroll!

Great pics and love that you are able to enjoy such a thing.  We have coyotes occassionally or a kit fox...but no local moose.  Rats!

I love it and never get tired of seeing the animals.  We now have moose that were brought into the Great Smokies as a reentry program and is flourishing.  Thanks for sharing.

We used to get a few of those in town when I lived over in North Idaho.  They just walk on through and don't seem to care.

Debra - Cool Moose!  Everytime I visit Maine, I always hope I'll see a Moose.....but, I never have!  Thanks for sharing!

Well that is a whole different life up there in Alaska. We usually have trouble with deer running across the road here in Michigan, and you have to be extra alert when driving in rural areas at dusk, or dawn because that is when they are moving around.

Hi Debra -- How cool is that?  I lived in Portland, ME once and I saw a moose one time that decided to take a swim in Casco Bay.  The police had to shoo everyone away so the poor, frightened thing could get the nerve to come back out and take off.  We were driving down a logging road way out in the Maine countryside and came upon a moose staring at us.  We slowly backed up till we were far away to give this huge animal a wide berth.  Since we were in Maine, we didn't want to provide fodder for another Stephen King book! :)

Wow!  Look at that moose!  We always try to spot one when we go to New Hampshire or Maine, but haven't had any such luck.  Maybe we need to come to Alaska!

Way to go Debra! Congrats on the feature. People love animals , they also love Alaska and marry those two and you have us all hooked! Love it. I have to say, my first thought was also Northern Exposure but Lenn already covered that, LOL.

Debra, you're so lucky to have that in the backyard.  Homer and Seldovia are two of my favorite places there.  In Denali one was so large I swore I could've driven right underneath her!  Thanks.

A great shot of the moose. I have never seen one here in Boca Raton, Fla. Some alligators.

How is the snow situation there? I drove to Alaska from Boca Raton.Fla. a few years ago, it is a beautiful

state.
