By the Light of the Moon.... Moon in Anchor Point Alaska

Dec 30, 2009 Here is a shot of my tree and the almost full moon lingering in the sky... it is 9:38 am when I take this picture...

January 9, 2010 Here is a shot of the moon hanging over my yard to the left of my home. It is around 10:15 am. This is a waning crescent moon which wanes until the light is completely gone -- a new moon.

Why are they in such different positions in the sky ?

This is a full hour later in the day..... yet it hasn't even got close to where the full moon was at 9:30 AM.... I don't get that....Do You?
It Starts in the North...here was my full moon on New Years Eve! Oh Yeah!

Your pictures are beautiful and look so peaceful.
Great shots of the moon and I give you Alaskans a hearty high-five for being able to exist in those rugged conditions! I am too much of a wimp!
Hi Debra - Love the photos! I'll leave it to someone else to answer your questions - I haven't had my 2nd cup of coffee yet! LOL

Debra, those are great photos! I don't know how you guys up North deal with that much darkness during each day. I hate the lack of daylight in the Winter and we have over 9 hrs a day. Less than that I would have to fly South or something!
Debra, Your New Year's Eve photo looks almost painted. Great photos!
Steve
Wow you need flashlights to open lockboxes in the morning AND the evening????
Hello All...thanks for stopping in to see the moon... yes it is dark morning and evening but we are gaining daylight every day now... soon it will be light all day and night! Cycles!
Debra - you have some wonderful moon shots here ... there is a couple that would make great postcards for advertising purposes.
Thank you very much Kathy, I appreciate the compliment and idea!
