Monday Moose...6 in the Valley... Anchor Point Alaska

First Snow in Homer was Saturday.... 11/7... isn't that a lucky sign? I don't know....sounds good to me...  The day before the snow fell there seemed to be several lucky signs.... I saw 6 moose in my valley... SIX Moose on the 6th of November.... I didn't see them all at once... saw a couple of them...

Six Moose in the Valley

then another... ... I thought hey that's is probably the 3 I saw the other day....was wishing I had a zoom lens and then I saw the 4th... the out of nowhere here come a couple more crashing out to the creek...

Six Moose in the Valley

they were prancing a bit and started to nudge, push and shove each other... there was a Big Bull and a cow and they were not fighting maybe more like flirting... they started calling each other out...

Six Moose in the Valley

it was incredible... what a way to start the day.... I wish I had gotten better pictures... there were 2 Big Horned Bull Moose, one smaller spike horned moose and 2 cows... that was a great way to start the day...

Don't you just love it....  We count several when we drive the back roads or go for short hikes...

It is very unusual to see 6 full grown moose hanging out together ... I guess in days past this valley would be full of moose!  thanks

Debra, I love your photographs of moose.  We do have them in places here in Utah, but they are still pretty rare, so I really like seeing your photos of them!

Debra,

One or two is typical but 6 is quite unusual for moose.   Thank you for giving us some good glimpses at them.  Talk about a great and moose-ly interesting way to start a day!
