Moose in the Yard .... Anchor Point Alaska

We had a visitor finally..... Moose season ends today and look who showed up! Nibbling on the willows and trees in the yard...walking right down the driveway like he didn't have a care in the world...

Moose in Anchor Point Alaska

Whew made it thru another season... this guy is not very old... probably a year or more...

would have been a legal one... so I am glad he is still standing!

Very cool.  In our neck of the woods, the closest we ever get to a Moose is something called Moose Munch (i.e. yummy carmel corn drizzled in chocolate) with a cute picture of a Moose on the front of the package from Harry & David.  It's very good!

I'm glad he's still standing, too. I only understand killing wildlife as a source of food -- although I won't be the one to do the killing -- but I've never had moose meat. Do they sell mooseburgers there in Alaska?

Hello Russel ... no they do not sell mooseburgers but I can fix you up with one... it is against the law to kill a moose and not take the meat... wanton waste is punishbale by fines and jail .... we take that very seriously... and it can not be sold on the open market... people get a moose and can eat on it all year... very healthy meat.....very lean, no hormones and good to eat...

Debra,

I think they all agreed that your neighborhood and yard is the best place to meet and hang out now that moose season is over.   I am looking forward to seeing more photos of your moosely happy visitors. :)
