Bay Realty Blog: Not the Best Moose Picture but maybe one of the most memorable.........

Not the Best Moose Picture but maybe one of the most memorable.........

Okay I was feeling bad for that moose that wasn't a moose at all ...

Just a cute loveable creature made for decoration...

So I thought I would share this picture of a moose who was in my yard last year

Not the best picture I have ever taken but one of the most memorable....

Moose in Homer Alaska

It was the middle of June around 10 pm... still light out

She made her way into the yard and laid down...

then she got back up and stomped around and laid back down.

She was pregnant and ready to give birth...

I watched her for the longest time... and did not want to even open a window to take a picture...

Even our dogs were quiet...no snarl, no growl....quiet....

So we watched in silence as long as we could... but all that quiet put us to sleep

When we woke up... she was gone... ... very little tell tale signs of the great event

This is about all we could see

My View My Yard

I think she had twins... that is common.... Wish I had stayed awake!

Not many of us have a story like that to tell, Debra.  I noticed your beautiful flowers in the foreground.  I have heard that moose like to come into yards and eat the flowers.  Have you found that to be true?

Thanks everyone for stopping by and checking it out ... I wish Icould have stayed awake and got the final result! And yes Sharon the moose eat up gardens and trees but usually not the flowers...it takes a lot of food to keep those moose going...

thanks Mike for subscribing to my blog! that is really special to me... I am still pretty new to this and it is a real honor to have you do this...

I agree with Sharon - how many people get a moose in their backyard.  Now if only I could get rid of thes  raccoons.

Me too ... they do come back and keep you in their large circle of area.... but you never know who is who in the moose world unless they have significant markings you can tell from the others..thanks Deb for stopping by!

Debra,

I enjoyed reading this story.   Thank you for sharing it.   You sure have a moose haven for the female moose to come back year after year to your yard to give birth.   The story of this one alone is worthy of a Feature on Moose Monday!

Thank you Gerry... I love the moose and I know you do too...and it is great they come back where they know they are safe!   Thank you so much for the feature I really appreciate that!

Debra - I think it's a wonderful photo of a moose, I think the sunset or sunrise at the bottom of your post is very beautiful!
