The American Legion is having their big Star studded celebration all day long....
Go try some delicious fry bread at the Refuge Chapel and help raise some money for their cause!
Hot dogs, ice cream, balloons and flags will be everywhere...the spit is like a carnival...

People are everywhere and the Hoka Hey guys are mostly in...

their big party is out east end at stone step lake...
Fun to be had everywhere! There are so many events at the college, the library and a Pig Roast at the Down East Saloon.

WARNING: The Alaska Department of Transportation has lowered the speed limits on the Homer Spit Road for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The limits are effective until Tuesday, July 5. From the base of the Spit to near the Heritage RV Park, the speed limit is 35 mph -At Heritage RV Park approaching the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon, the speed limits is 20 mph, also a lowering of the normal speed limit. So Slow down and don't get a ticket... ruins a wonderful weekend...

Don't forget to fish (Like we had to say that) Nevada angler Cheryl Goeke landed a 250.6-pound halibut Thursday to grab the top spot in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby.
