According to RealtyTrac.com, a foreclosure listing service,

Alaska has one of the lowest rates of foreclosure in the nation.

There are currently 175 foreclosure properties in the state: one in every 1,573 housing units received a foreclosure filing in November, 2011.

The overall national figure is much higher: one in every 579 units received a foreclosure filing in November, 2011.

Within Alaska, Anchorage has the highest number, with 124 new foreclosures.

The Mat-Su Valley is second with 30.

 The entire Kenai Peninsula ranks third with 10 new foreclosures currently.

Peter Lind, Homer Alaska Artist  

 Peter Lind is a Homer Alaska Artist and this is his Alutiiq Hunter! 

 He will be presenting this along with other gorgeous pieces at the  Alaska Federation  Native Art Show at the DENA’INA Center in Anchorage Alaska  Oct 19-23^rd! 

The Body is Whale Vertebrae as well as the Mukluks and the Base… the Face is carved from Moose Bone… The pants are Seal Fur …The feathers are spruce hen and Ivory holds them on the cotton bark Helmut. Beautiful Intricate Art… You can own this if you go buy it!

Northern Hawk Owl…Anchor Point Alaska

I am not sure this is a Northern hawk Owl…but I was told by a person who knows a lot more about Owls than I do that he thought it was a Northen Hawk Owl.

I was sitting at my desk and looked up to see this guy perched in the  top of the tree outside my window… I grabbed the camera and took his picture… I was waiting patiently to see what he would do… looked down just for a second and whoosh he was gone…

Have not seen him again… pretty happy with seeing him once…
