Today is one of our best friends birthday... sadly He won't be here to share it with us...
He died March 16th 2008 from chronic leukemia...
Dick was full of life.. he was robustly healthy and hard working... whether he was selling real estate or mowing his lawn he put everything into it... He and his partner Tom quit Real Estate to develop land and they loved it... quite a pair those two... they earned their nick names.... the "Dirt Dogs"
Dick was also an auctioneer. He did major auctions for Ducks Unlimited and such but his favorites were the ones he did to raise money for people who needed to pay their hospital bills or for folks who had lost their homes in fires.... He was the King of dessert auctions... he could get 500 bucks for a warm pie.... and then get them to donate it back! If things started to lag he would tell a really bad joke and by bad I mean so stupid people would feel sorry for him and the bidding would perk back up to take him off the hook.... I heard him tell that stupid joke so many times and it always worked...
He loved his wife Nancy who he called his rock...
and then his Angel as she gently and tirelessly cared for him till his passing...
So on this day Dick.... We miss your corny jokes, your smile and your blue eyes....
We miss you and we will never forget you.....
Perhaps, they are not clouds in the sky,but rather openings
Where our loved ones shine down to let us know They are happy.....
